There isn’t generally much happening for us adults in October and November, apart from planning and organising October Holidays, Halloween parties, and Trick-or-Treating, an exciting time for kids with loads to look forward to. It might be the perfect opportunity for us to start preparing for Christmas, avoiding the usual stress and rush it brings. You could even try tying Halloween and Christmas together a bit to ease the overwhelmingness.
The Season of Play: From Trick-or-Treat to Christmas Morning
There is so much you can do to make walks and adventures interesting during this season. How often do you get home after walks with conkers, acorns, sticks and stones in your pocket? We have tried some exciting seasonal play ideas this year, where our kids went on treasure hunts with a list of items to collect, ones they would collect anyway, and brought them home to create an Autumn Wreath. They absolutely loved it!

Through the October Holiday Week, we made a point of doing one outdoor activity every day, and guess what? The kids were so happy with the week and just enjoyed the family time we spent together. As it’s now Halloween, we have been considering some outdoor activities and decided to plan a nighttime drive in the 2-seater Can-Am buggies up to the woods, using flashlights, and we might hide some glow-in-the-dark items along the trail.
